The refund that comes back
A refund is money walking out of your store forever. Mortaga runs the whole return (Arabic self-service portal, one review queue, courier pickup) and offers store credit with a bonus on top, so most of it never leaves.
Works with Shopify
What you get
A desk for you. A portal for them.
The problem
Every refund you approve is 100% gone. Every exchange keeps all of it. The gap between those two numbers is the entire product.
How it works
Four stops. Your team touches one.
-
01
The shopper opens the portal
Order number and phone. No account, no email thread, fully in Arabic.
-
02
The reason picks the screen
Say “too large” and it never asks refund or exchange. It goes straight to sizes for that exact product.
-
03
You approve it once
One queue, filterable, with photos and the full order beside every request.
-
04
The courier does the rest
One courier visit collects the old item and delivers the replacement. The customer waits in once.
Run your own numbers
How much of it would you keep?
The choice
Same return. Two endings.
- Cash leaves the business
- Payment fees already spent
- Acquisition cost written off
- No second visit
- Money stays inside the store
- The bonus makes it the obvious pick
- Customer comes back to spend it
- Often spends above the balance
Why not Loop or ReturnGO
Their assumptions don't hold here.
There is no card to refund to. Global tools assume one exists and stop when it doesn't.
Identity here is a mobile number. The portal looks people up by phone as readily as by email.
No drop-off point down the street. A courier comes and does both legs of the exchange in one visit.
Not a translation layer. Right-to-left layout, Arabic type, and Western digits, because that is what Egyptian commerce actually uses.
Questions
Before you ask.
How long does setup actually take?
Connect your Shopify store and the returns portal is live on your own link the same day. No separate onboarding call, no waiting on a sales team.
Most of my orders are cash on delivery. Does that work?
Yes, that is the case Mortaga is built for. There is no card to refund to, so the default path is store credit with a bonus, which is what most COD-heavy Egyptian stores actually want.
Is it a real refund, or do you force store credit?
You set your own return policy: refund, exchange, or credit-with-a-bonus, in whatever mix you want. Nothing is forced on the customer; the bonus just makes credit the obvious pick most of the time.
Which couriers do you work with?
Bosta is built in today: pickups and exchange runs are booked in one click, and we're adding more courier companies. You can also handle pickup yourself and use Mortaga for the portal, review queue, and credit.
Is my Shopify data safe?
Your Shopify and courier credentials are encrypted at rest, never sent to the browser, and only read by the server actions that need them. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail on what is collected and why.
